A Clinical Study of Gastrointestinal Suture Line Disruption Following Gastreetonty for Malignant Tumor

Abstract
A clinical study on 448 cases of surgical patients with stomach cancer who were admitted to and received operation of gastrectomy at the, Dept. of General. Surgery, B. N. U. H., from Jan. 1964 to Dec. 1972 had been analyzed and the results were summarized as follows.
1. Among 448 patients of stomach cancer who received operation of gastrectomy, 14 cases (3.1%) had developed postoperative complication of suture line disruption of gastrojejunostomy.
2. If complication of suture line disruption of gastrojejunostomy was suspected, immediately accurate diagnosis and operative procedure; should be made.
3. When the exact diagnosis of postoperative complication of suture line disruption of gastrojejunostomy was made, immediate operations such as resutures of fistula and drainage or the jejunostomy for feeding were the choice of procedures.
4. The palliative treatment alone of suture line disruption of gastrojejunostomy had least effects. 5. Two or three stitches of the seromuscular sutures should be reinforced at the lower angle of the gastrointestinal suture line.
